Note to Self

When enjoying the easy listening types of music on my radioblog while writing an article on my computer, maybe don't put the "Milkshake Song" right after a whole series of the grooving, quieter type music.

State of the Union TONIGHT!

It's that time of year again, time for the State of the Union. I was hoping to continue what we started last year with another State of the Union drinking game, but Amy is out of town! I'm alone, and drinking games are obviously of little fun when no one else is around to make you lose. I'm so bad at them I'd probably still lose against myself.

So, unless I find someone to come over and try it out with me, it'll just be me tonight. Sorry to let you all down. In the meantime, please enjoy the description of last year's State of the Union drinking event.

The Disappeared

Just got back from a lovely weekend trip to Delaware and Philadelphia. I made a lovely photo album of it, so click here to go see that. If you do the slideshow, you don't get to see the captions.

What else has been happening in my way too long absence from my blog? I guess not much. I've just been lazy. You ever get like that? You think of something that would be cool to write/blog about, but then you sit down and it just stays stuck in your brain? I've had a lot of that lately.

I've tried to think of some New Year's resolutions since I did pretty good on last year's. Last year was the first time I ever really made resolutions (other than the usual "I resolve to never make resolutions" one). I resolved to volunteer more - which I think I did well on.

I also resolved to stop cussing so damn f*cking sh*t ass much. I think I've done better on that at some points but then slipped back into it at other times. I like to think my discretion on it has improved. Heh. Ass!

So this year I've been considering some new ones - one of them being to read more. I came up with a list of about 17 or 18 books I'd like to finish off. Beyond that, I can't think of much else to resolve to do.

Work out? I already do that. I noticed that things were busier at the gym when I went last week with all the resolutionists starting up their regimen again. I'm sure they'll thin out once February rolls around.

Maybe I should resolve to get the rats out of my engine. If only I wielded that type of power over them. Last week they all but declared victory over me on Monday morning. That's when I opened the car hood (during my typical morning routine of removing the D-Con rat poison pellets from the engine before driving away) and found the rat STILL INSIDE THE ENGINE. He was a big sucker, too.

In any case, he was greeted by shouts of obscenities from me and quickly ducked down into the engine and under the car. He did startle me, but only enough to help me break my New Year's resolution from 2006.

Anyway, once my heart had returned to its place inside my chest, I then closed the hood and walked around the back of the car to open the gate, and the rat bastard decided that that was the right time to run out from underneath the car, run BETWEEN my feet and then out of the yard.

So they're obviously still using my car as a Rat Hilton, but at least something's eating the poison I put in there instead of chewing on the wires. Late last week I decided to just stop parking in the back of the house and now I'm back to parking on the street. I'm stick with the poison pellets in the engine each night. Hopefully this truce can be maintained.

Maybe that's the new resolution - Realize that I cannot defeat the rats, but that I should just maintain the truce with them. That could work....as long as I'm still allowed to yell obscenities at them.
